Flower planting day

Children watched closely as the bulb was placed into the dirt and more water was added.

Where is the gingerbread man?

We found crumbs in the office and a note in the library.  But no gingerbread man, yet.

Gingerbread Cookies

Oh my goodness.  We baked gingerbread cookies today and they ran away!  We walked all over Parkers Prairie Elementary School looking for them.  When we got back to our room, they were there.  We were hungry after our long walk looking for them, and they were good.

This is the recipe we used:

1 box butterschotch instant pudding mix
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 t. ginger
1/2 t. cinnamon
1/2 t. baking soda

Cream sugar and shortening.  Add eggs, mix together.  Add pudding, flour, and spices.  Roll our dough, cut with cookie cutters.  Bake at 350 degrees for 10 min.  This recipe makes 7 to 8 med. sized cookies.

Planting a flower

On Thursday we planted an Amaryllis Red Lion bulb which was given to us by Jakob.  We will watch it grow over the winter months.  Thank you,  Jakob!  :)  Watch for pictures soon.

Run, Run, As fast as you can...

This week we read the story,  "The Gingerbread Man."  The children loved the story and were very attentive.  We made and decorated cut out gingerbread shapes.  We will continue to read it next week as part of our 4 day read-aloud.  On December 15 we will bake real gingerbread cookies.  I sure hope they don't run away from us....

Reading Buddies are Back!

On October 6, School Readiness had a pajama party to celebrate Minnesota Reading Corps. Read for the Record Day.  We read Llama Llama Red Pajama and invited other classrooms to come down and read to us.  The pre-school children and their reading buddies from Mr. Denny's and Mr. Wagner's class enjoyed it soooo much that we decided to have reading buddies come down to read every day. Ms. Grabow's class will also be helping out.
